Experience from any country counts.

The UAE has one of the largest concentrations of PMI-certified professionals in the world, and project roles in Dubai and Abu Dhabi often ask for PMP by name. This page covers what PMP costs in dirhams, what certified project managers earn, how the PMI UAE Chapter can help, and how to apply. Each section links to a detailed guide.

✦
From my experience: I spent years on construction projects in the UAE, including EGA Head Office and The Constellation, and earned my PMP in 2019. On those projects I worked with people from more than 20 nationalities, and I saw PRINCE2 embedded in government-linked client organisations alongside PMP. In construction, being able to show you can manage schedules, subcontractors and change matters as much as the credential itself.

03 · Demand

Is PMP in demand in the UAE?

Yes. According to PMI data reported in December 2025, the UAE ranks eighth in the world with 23,670 active PMI certifications, including eighth for PMP, fourth for PMI-RMP and fifth for PMI-SP. That is a very high number for a country of its size, and it reflects how often UAE employers ask for PMI credentials.

Demand is still growing. PMI projects that the project workforce in the Middle East and North Africa will grow from about 1.3 million to as many as 1.8 million by 2035, a need for up to 600,000 more project professionals. PMI now works with close to 200 Authorized Training Partners across 17 MENA markets.
