05 · Paying from Nigeria

How do you pay the PMI fee from Nigeria?

Pay on PMI.org with a Visa or Mastercard that allows international online payments: a naira card with a foreign spending limit, or a dollar (domiciliary) card. Nigerian banks raised their foreign spending limits on naira cards in 2026 as FX liquidity improved. For example, Nairametrics reported in September 2026 that GTBank allows $40,000 a quarter and FirstBank $10,000 a quarter on naira cards.

Before you pay, check your card’s foreign limit in your banking app and turn on international transactions. If the card is declined, try a dollar card, another bank’s card, or ask your employer to pay PMI directly.

06 · Application process

When you pay each fee: the PMP process in Nigeria

1
Check your eligibility
With a four-year degree (BSc, BEng, BA) you need 36 months of project leadership experience. With a secondary school certificate or diploma (OND, NCE) you need 60 months. Both need 35 contact hours. Use the free PMP eligibility checker.
2
Complete 35 contact hours
Choose a provider from the table above. Keep the certificate, because PMI may ask for it in an audit.
3
Create a PMI account and join PMI
Set Nigeria as your country, pay the membership, and download the free PMBOK Guide.
4
Submit your application
Describe each project’s role, dates and responsibilities on PMI.org. Review usually takes about 5 business days.
5
Pay the exam fee and book the exam
Book through Pearson VUE: at a test centre in Lagos or Abuja, or online from home.
6
Prepare for 8–12 weeks
Book the exam once you score 70–75% on full practice tests. Try 200 free PMP practice questions.
07 · Cost-saving strategies

5 ways to reduce PMP cost in Nigeria

Save ₦108,000
Join PMI before paying the exam fee. Membership plus the member fee costs less than the non-member fee alone.
Save up to 100%
Ask your employer to sponsor it. Oil and gas, banking, telecoms and construction firms in Nigeria often pay for PMP. Use our sponsorship email template.
Save 5–10%
Train as a group. Some Lagos providers give 5% off for 3–4 people and 10% off for 5 or more.
Pay at a good rate
Watch the exchange rate. Every ₦50 move in the dollar rate changes the member exam fee by about ₦20,000, so check the rate before you pay.
Save ₦366,850
Pass on the first attempt. A retake costs ₦366,850 even for members, so don’t book the exam until your mock scores are steady.
