05 · Paying from India
How do you pay the PMI fee from India?
Pay on PMI.org in rupees with an Indian debit or credit card that has online payments turned on. Because your India-registered account is charged in rupees with GST, you avoid the exchange-rate risk that candidates in most other countries face. Check the amount and GST line at checkout before you pay.
If your employer is paying, ask whether they want to pay PMI directly or reimburse you, and keep the PMI receipt for your claim.
06 · Application process
When you pay each fee: the PMP process in India
1
Check your eligibility
With a four-year degree (such as BTech or BE) or global equivalent you need 36 months of project leadership experience. With a diploma or 12th pass you need 60 months. If you have a three-year degree, confirm with PMI which route applies before you apply. Both need 35 contact hours. Use the free PMP eligibility checker.
2
Complete 35 contact hours
Choose a course from the table above. Keep the certificate, because PMI may ask for it in an audit.
3
Create a PMI account and join PMI
Set India as your country, pay the membership in rupees, and download the free PMBOK Guide.
4
Submit your application
Describe each project’s role, dates and responsibilities on PMI.org. Review usually takes about 5 business days.
5
Pay the exam fee and book the exam
Book through Pearson VUE: at a test centre in most metro cities, or online from home.
Join PMI before paying the exam fee. Membership plus the member fee costs less than the non-member fee alone.
Save up to 100%
Ask your employer to sponsor it. Many IT services, consulting, BFSI and infrastructure companies in India pay for PMP. Use our sponsorship email template.
Save ₹10,000+
Pick online over classroom. Live online courses cover the same 35 hours for less, and you save travel time.
Save ₹5,000+
Don’t buy the printed PMBOK Guide. It is a free download for PMI members.
Save ₹21,978
Pass on the first attempt. A retake costs ₹21,978 even for members, so don’t book the exam until your mock scores are steady.
